After the two solo albums HELIX FELIX and CIRCULAR HOCKET, Andreas Stahel's third CD SCHILF is being released by Tonus-Music Records. This time together with the band HELIX. The music of HELIX is based on the one hand on repetitive and contrapuntally interwoven rhythmic patterns, such as those found in Steve Reich's minimal music or in African or Balinese music. In contrast, there are free-flowing, open improvisations with many quiet moments. As far as interval structures, melodic and harmonic material are concerned, there are influences from jazz and moderately modern classical music (Stravinsky, Bartók etc.).
